We’re excited to announce Awair 2nd Edition, our latest solution to help you take control of your environment and see the invisible.
Indoor air can be 5x more polluted than outside, due to everyday factors like paint, furniture, carpet, air fresheners, toys, and much more. Your air quality affects allergies, asthma, concentration, sleep quality, skin health and your overall health.
Awair has always committed to helping you stay safe and healthy by tracking the air quality factors that affect you, including:
Chemicals, known as VOCs, can be found in everyday materials. They can cause skin and respiratory irritation.
Indoor exposure to carbon dioxide can impair productivity and decision making.
Temperature makes all the difference for comfort and mood.
Too much or too little moisture leads to cold and flu symptoms and risk for toxic mold.
In addition to these factors, Awair 2nd Edition now includes more acute readings of harmful Fine Dust (PM2.5) and further personalized recommendations to help you stay healthy.
Fine Dust (also known as PM2.5) is incredibly small and can be absorbed into your blood and lungs. Exposure to fine dust has been known to trigger health problems like asthma, allergies, and heart failure. Fine dust is incredibly common, and everyday activities such as cooking, burning candles, or operating fireplaces and space heaters can add unhealthy levels of fine dust to the air in your home.
“When thinking about how we can be more helpful and add more value for our current and future Awair consumers across the world, it was clear to us that Fine Dust is the factor that we needed to address more closely with our products. We were especially alarmed with the sharp increase in harmful Fine Dust levels we saw right here in San Francisco during the instances of several California wildfires last year - and those were happening hundreds of miles away! Our goal has always been to empower our customers with the knowledge they need to keep their homes and families safe and Awair 2nd Edition will help them do just that,” says Ronald Ro, founder of Awair.
Along with tracking what’s in your air, Awair 2nd Edition also includes more personalized tips and recommendations to help you achieve your specific health goals--all via the updated Awair app.
Use the Awair app to know your air quality at a glance, track improvements over time, receive personalized tips that take outdoor air quality into account, connect Awair to other devices to truly create a smart home, and more.
The Awair 2nd Edition also includes the Sleep Report feature, which uses a unique algorithm to help you optimize your bedroom for a good night’s rest.
Building health safety has always been important, but it has never received as much public attention as it is getting now. A big part of that attention is focused on indoor air quality (IAQ). People are becoming increasingly aware that ventilation, air filtering, and IAQ are leading factors in measuring the safety of a space, especially for re-entry. In addition, managing building air quality:
Tired of doing everything manually? Well, IFTTT can fix that. You can set up simple automated recipes to help make your life easier. For example, you can say, “if it rains, then give me a weather alert on my phone.”
In December, I joined Awair as a key advisor and board member. I first became interested in the company after meeting its founders and hearing about their dedication to studying and improving indoor air quality. While they started the company to improve their children’s lives, their products can help anyone measure indoor air quality in real time. To me, that creates an enormous opportunity to improve people’s lives everywhere.
